Abstract: On 11 December 2024, the dedicated Namibian amateur astronomer Sonja Itting-Enke closed her eyes forever at the age of 94. The recipient of the VdS (Vereinigung der Sternfreunde) medal was the driving force behind the spread of astronomy in Namibia.
