GPS-Time Based (Occultation) Astronomy in Times of Hybrid Warfare
JOA 2026, Vol. 16, No. 4, Page 7 Author(s): Joachim Siegert; Andreas Schweizer;Abstract: Astronomy in general and occultation astronomy in particular use GPS data to determine location and/or time. During the last few years a growing number of successful manipulation incidents show that GPS may not always be fully reliable and accurate. The system owners and interested third parties are both able to influence satellite data. The following information is intended to give a short overview on that topic and a possible way for (amateur) astronomers to mitigate it, at least at the moment.
